Your PSC
The Professional Skills Course (PSC) is the final, compulsory part of your training before you qualify as a solicitor. So it’s important to select the right PSC with electives tailored to your area of interest. We’re the leading national provider of this crucial part of your professional development.
The PSC is made up of three compulsory core modules and a programme of elective modules.
Core modules
Advocacy & Communication Skills (3 days)
Client Care & Professional Standards (2 days)*
Financial & Business Skills (3 days)
These modules can be taken as an eight-day intensive ‘fast-track’ programme or individually across a wider range of dates.
*From 1 August 2008, we will offer this course as two separate days of training:
Elective modules
PSC elective modules allow you to specialise in particular areas of law.
Nearly all electives last for one day (six hours). You’ll need to choose four days worth of electives in total to reach the 24 hours needed to meet the Solicitors Regulatory Authority’s requirements.
It’s recommended that you take these electives after completing the core modules as they contain elements of client care or advocacy and, also, assume a level of understanding of these core topics.
