Public Access for Barristers Course Information
The one-day Public Access for Barristers course is aimed at barristers in independent practice who wish to undertake public access work. It is also suitable for Chambers’ administrative staff.
Each trainer on the Public Access for Barristers course is a qualified lawyer. All have significant professional experience of dealing with members of the public.
Teaching is highly interactive. The course employs a variety of training techniques, including short presentations, group work and structured feedback. Classes are designed to be challenging, interesting and educational.
Key Outcomes
The objectives of the programme are to enable participants to:
- Understand the scope and nature of public access work
- Appreciate the rules and conditions of undertaking public access work
- Learn to work directly with a client, including funding issues, assessing suitability and client care
- Recognise the role, nature and demands of effective administration
- Learn about money laundering provisions and their impact on public access work
Mode of Study
The Public Access for Barristers is a one-day course and delivered both publicly and on an in-house basis. The maximum number of delegates per course is sixteen.
It is based on enjoyable learner-centred training and focuses on specific and realistic practical application in the workplace.
The College of Law works closely with the Bar Council to ensure the course continually develops to meet the evolving requirements of delegates.
2008/09 Fees
The fee for the Public Access for Barristers course is £325 + VAT.
Full payment must be received on application.
