Lawyers working in local government legal departments deal with many issues unique to this area of the law, as well as matters common to the wider legal profession, so require specialist training.
As well as providing the Local Government Professional Skills Course designed specifically for trainee solicitors working in local government, the College administers the Law Society’s Diploma in Local Government Law and Practice, which takes training to a higher level.
