This is a three-hour training session, qualifying for 3 CPD hours.

Objectives

The objectives of this training session are to enable participants to:

  • Gain an overview of the relevant legal and practical issues in the regulation of e-commerce.
  • Understand the issues involved in establishing a web presence, including domain names, website development and the IP protection of online content.
  • Review the legal and information requirements with which a website operator must comply.
  • Understand the issues involved in contracting online, including how to sell over the internet and the use of website terms and conditions.
  • Gain an overview of the potential liabilities involved in running a website, including issues of defamation and infringement of third party IP rights.
  • Be aware of future developments and legislation relating to e-commerce.
  • Review key commercial agreements and finance documents, identify and report on key issues.
