Your continuing professional development
Continuing professional development (CPD) is an essential part of every lawyer’s career. Naturally, as a qualified solicitor, you will need to continually develop your skills. But at the College, we see professional development as much more than simply an obligation.
Professional development not only to keeps you up to date with the latest legislative developments, but to allows you to expand your skills, improve your capabilities and build a successful and satisfying career. This enhances the image and reputation of your firm, not to mention your own job satisfaction.
CPD requirements
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requires that all solicitors admitted to the Roll and registered European lawyers must attend 16 hours of qualifying training each CPD year, which runs from 1 November until 31 October.
Newly qualified solicitors and registered European lawyers are required to attend one hour of qualifying training for each full month worked from the date of admission or registration through to 31 October. Those admitted on 1 November will go straight into their first CPD year.
For full details of the SRA requirements visit www.sra.org.uk or call 0870 606 2555.
