Australian Constitutional law
Practising law in Australia
In an increasingly global environment, lawyers with a dual qualification are able to offer a more competitive and useful service to clients.
As a qualified overseas lawyer you may be eligible to seek admission in one of the Australian state jurisdictions, and then be admitted to practice in other states through the Australian mutual recognition provisions.
Most Australian jurisdictions require lawyers to meet both academic and practical requirements for admission to practice. These academic requirements can vary from state to state, and depend on your qualifications and how long you have been admitted to practise in your home jurisdiction. But typically, many overseas lawyers will need to complete a course in Australian Constitutional Law, which you can take before arriving to Australia.
Our course in Australian Constitutional Law is developed in consultation with The College of Law in Australia and administered by the College of Law Alliance.
