Choose your specialist route
The LPC at The College of Law is unique. Unlike other law schools, we offer students a choice of specialist study routes reflecting the full spectrum of legal practice options. This means that you learn in a context tailored to your area of interest or your chosen legal field, while still giving you an element of flexibility. We also offer the widest range of LPC elective subjects available, to help you tailor your LPC to your career aspirations. The ability to specialise will help make you stand out when applying for training contracts.
Practical study for real life practice
Whatever route you choose, we have a programme designed to help you understand the business needs of law firms, develop your commercial awareness and think like a lawyer.
The College of Law is the only national legal training provider whose LPC has been awarded the Law Society’s highest possible ‘commendable’ rating at every one of its centres around the country. And many leading law firms use the College as their exclusive LPC provider.
Effective learning
You’ll receive a very high standard of training at the College, tailored to suit your academic needs and career aspirations. You’ll take part in a variety of learning activities, which combine to create the most effective learning environment:
- almost all of your face-to-face teaching is in small, student-centred groups and workshops
- there’s extensive use of multi-media learning resources, including interactive i-Tutorials, podcasts, online group assignments, our ELITE interactive learning support system and access to our online library
- throughout the course you’ll receive constructive, personalised feedback and support from your tutors and peers.
Expert guidance and support
Our LPC is delivered by experienced legal practitioners with hands-on experience. You’ll be able to track your progress throughout the course via mock assessments and open-book exams, regular oral and written feedback, and one-to-one meetings with personal tutors. All of our tutors are also contactable by phone or e-mail, so they’re available to offer support when you need it.
Get ahead of the pack
If you’ve successfully completed our GDL and go on to obtain your LPC at the College, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor’s law degree – LL.B – a clear demonstration of your abilities to prospective employers.
And we can award our LL.M in Professional Legal Practice to those students who pass the College LPC plus three additional modules and an assignment. So our LPC graduates are already a third of the way towards our Master’s.
