Our courses are as close to the practice of law as possible, even down to our LPC open-book exams, where you’re free to use your notes, just like a practising lawyer.
Small groups
Most of our training is in small groups to more closely reflect working life as a lawyer and to develop your critical, research and presentation skills.
Commercial awareness
All our centres offer a programme to help you develop your business acumen, including business games, talks by guest speakers and presentations from an impressive list of legal and business professionals. These give you the chance to improve your understanding of the business needs of law firms and their clients and to develop the commercial awareness that employers are looking for.
Innovative course design
The College employs the largest team of dedicated course designers in UK legal education. All of our courses have been designed to reflect the challenges of a career in law and to provide the practical knowledge and skills you’ll need to succeed.
Interactive teaching
We’ve pioneered the use of i-Tutorials (on-line interactive tutorials) on both our GDL and LPC, and some learning materials for these courses are also available as downloadable podcasts.
Students on all courses benefit from our extensive on-line learning resources, including our on-line legal library, on-line group assignments and ELITE – our interactive learning support system. We also offer state-of-the-art IT suites, wireless networking, and remote internet access.
First-class resources
All relevant course materials, text books and case books are included in your course fee, and course materials are also accessible on-line via ELITE. All students benefit from use of our extensive legal libraries, the largest of any provider, as well as our legal databases. You’ll also have access to unlimited free printing.
Qualified tutors
Our learning style is all about independent learning and thinking – preparing you for the challenges of real life in practice, but offering support when you need it. All of our tutors are qualified lawyers, so they not only have the technical legal expertise, but also understand the practical skills necessary to succeed as a lawyer.

As part of our commitment to providing you with the most effective and flexible learning, methods, we have been pioneers of online legal study. Supervised online modules and i-Tutorials are already integrated into our courses and we are committed to exploring new innovations and distance learning options to meet our students’ needs.
