LL.M in International Legal Practice - final assignment
The final assignment provides the opportunity for the learner to demonstrate the ability to carry out sustained, in-depth and intensive investigation and reflection and to present the findings in a formal manner. It will normally consist of approximately 15,000 words.
The final assignment will take the form of a practice-focused dissertation relevant to one or more of the leaner’s chosen modules. The work undertaken in studying the relevant module(s) will provide much of the background knowledge and context for the assignment. Learners must select a particular transaction or matter (either a single, specific transaction or matter, or looking at a set of generic transactions) and consider the transaction in depth, including an analysis of:
- Market considerations (if any)
- Relevant commercial and financial factors
- The parties to the transaction(s) plus business factors underpinning the transaction/matter, including risk
- Relevant law and major regulations as they affect the transaction
- Practical, contemporary legal practice: including drafting, and negotiation points
The final assignment must also contain appropriate reflection on the part of the learners as to:
- How this has developed their abilities as a practitioner
- How they can apply learning to their personal practice; and
- Future development requirements
