Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)

Enhance your career prospects with our GDL – designed to help you think like a lawyer and develop the practical skills that the modern legal profession demands

Highlights include:

  • High training contract success rate
  • Receive unrivalled levels of face-to-face teaching and tutor contact from qualified lawyers
  • Train to the standards expected by leading law firms such as Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance and Linklaters, which endorse our course
  • Includes our unique ‘Preparing for practice’ module
  • Learn essential legal skills through our high quality problem-based approach
  • Gain commercial awareness and learn how to apply legal skills in practice
  • Achieve an LL.B law degree on successful completion of our LPC or BPTC

A flying start

Our GDL is much more than an academic conversion course – it’s the perfect starting point for non-law graduates or those working in a different profession seeking the job satisfaction and rewards of a career in law. Many law firms and barristers’ chambers welcome the broader education and experience that non-law graduates can bring to the profession.

The expertise you gain through our GDL will more than match a law degree. You won’t just learn the law – but how to apply it in practice to meet the realities of today’s legal environment and become a highly marketable lawyer.

Flexible part-time options

In addition to our full-time GDL, we offer a range of two-year part-time study options, allowing students to combine study with full-time work or other commitments. This flexible approach allows you to manage your time and your finances so that you get the most from your course. And if you’re studying part-time, there are still plenty of opportunities to meet and work with fellow students and to hone your legal skills through our practice-related activities.

S-mode

In addition, our new online S-mode GDL allows you to fast track your part-time GDL over 18 months rather than 2 years.

“We are taught not just about the law, but how to apply it, something which will be far more beneficial when it comes to practicing law.”

Annabel Meredith, full-time GDL, 2008/09
