Degree awarding powers
The College of Law was the first independent institution to be given the power to award its own degree-level qualifications. That’s a great indication of the quality of our teaching and our academic standards - nobody prepares you to practise law better.
Bachelor of Law Degree – LL.B
If you successfully study the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) at the College and go on to pass either the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC) with us, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Law degree – the LL.B. There is no need to study or finance additional modules.
The LL.B is an internationally recognised accreditation for your achievements, and a clear demonstration to future employers that the GDL route is as prestigious as a qualifying law degree. And it’ll give you a real competitive advantage amongst your peers when you apply for training contracts or pupillage.
Master of Law Degree – LL.M
We offer two flexible Master’s programmes designed to build specialist legal skills and knowledge:
LL.M in Professional Legal Practice
LL.M in International Legal Practice
If you successfully complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC) with us, you’ll already be a third of the way to gaining our LL.M in Professional Legal Practice. You can complete this practice-orientated LL.M by studying additional modules and completing an assignment, making you an even more marketable lawyer.
Our LL.M programmes can be completed in as little as 18 months or studied over up to five years, with a variety of study options, including supervised online modules.
