Aiming for the Bar
If you’re considering a career at the Bar, you’ll be aware that it is the most competitive part of the legal profession. Qualifying as a barrister can open up a career that’s rewarding and hugely stimulating, but it’s also very tough. Before you embark on your training, you should be aware, in particular, of the challenges of securing pupillage. Each year, approximately 1,500 people complete the BPTC (formerly known as the Bar Vocational Course) successfully, and you’ll also be competing against people who completed their BPTC in previous years for fewer than 600 pupillages that are usually offered each year.
Our BPTC will give you the skills you need to compete for the limited number of pupillage opportunities available. These skills will enhance your career opportunities at the Bar and beyond – past students have gone on to work for the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Civil Service or to become solicitor-advocates.
