Change to a career in law - achieve your ambitions
Moving into a career in law can be challenging but training with The College of Law will equip you to meet the realities of today's legal environment and become a highly marketable lawyer. With the transferable skills you will have developed from working in a disciplined career like the Armed Forces, you will have gained desirable competencies which prospective employers will be looking for.
Whether you want to be a solicitor or a barrister, you’ll need a law degree to get started.
We offer a two-year Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) designed for those focused on a career in law.
If you are already a graduate, with a non-law degree, you can convert to law through the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). We offer a wide range of locations and study options to suit you.
If you already have a law degree then your next step is to decide whether you wish to practice as a solicitor or barrister.
If you want to be a solicitor, the Legal Practice Course (LPC) gives you the opportunity to excel in your chosen area of law and will equip you with the key competencies required by law firms.
For those of you who are interested in becoming a barrister, our Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) has been designed to fully prepare you for working life as a barrister.

James Prince, current LPC student and career changer
'Since reading law at university I have known that I wanted to practise law, but on graduating from university in 2001 I decided to take up a place at Sandhurst to become an Army Officer. I subsequently took two jobs with the FCO, which allowed me to remain abroad, in operational teams. In August 2010 I decided to change careers, and wanted to get a professional qualification, do something which was intellectually stimulating, which involved teamwork and client interface, and was UK-based. So the obvious choice was to fulfil my long-held ambition, and qualify as a lawyer.'
