Weekend tuition
We offer face-to-face tuition at weekends for all QLTT Heads. Tuition takes place at our London Moorgate centre and is led by qualified lawyers who are experienced both in practice and as trainers. Tuition courses are designed around our distance learning materials, providing a structured framework of recommended study manuals, assignments and test papers to guide you through key syllabus topics. For course dates, please see QLTT course dates.
Head I – Property
This tuition consists of two full-day sessions on consecutive Saturdays. The first Saturday covers basic land law, trusts, leases, registered/unregistered land and the conveyancing procedure. The second Saturday covers trusts, intestacy, inheritance tax (delegates get to work on several calculations), capital gains tax, the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, wills, obtaining a grant of probate and administering an estate. Delegates will have an opportunity to take part in a number of relevant exercises and to discuss the outcomes in plenary. The tutor will also cover areas that delegates often have difficulty with.
Head II – Litigation (Civil)
This full-day tuition session takes place on a Saturday and takes delegates through the five stages of the litigation process. It is based on two case studies – one fast-track, the other multi-track – and delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a number of Test-relevant exercises and receive feedback on their performance.
Head III – Professional Conduct and Accounts
This course consists of two full-day sessions on consecutive Saturdays. The FSMA element of the paper is covered fully and delegates are encouraged to read the manual before attending to get the most from these intensive sessions.
Head IV – Principles of Common Law
This full-day tuition session takes place on a Saturday and covers the main areas of the tort and contract syllabus. Delegates take part in activities based on various relevant scenarios, which are then discussed in plenary. Delegates receive full handouts covering these presentations. Exam questions and technique are also discussed and delegates have the opportunity to ask questions about what to expect from the oral exam.

Revision sessions
Prior to each Test sitting we offer face-to-face revision sessions for all Heads at our London Moorgate centre. These four-hour sessions are open to everyone and are designed to help you refine your exam technique and enable you to achieve maximum marks. Courses take place on a range of days and start around two/three weeks before the actual Test. For course dates, please see QLTT course dates.
Head I – Property
This revision session comprises two hours on conveyancing and two hours on probate and trusts. It is designed to be as practical and interactive as possible. Delegates are given a written case structure to follow for each type of question and then spend time going through the paper, identifying the issues they need to advise on, explaining why it's a problem or potential problem for the client (by reference to the client's specific facts) and then advising on available options. The tutor can then identify specific areas where further tuition is needed and advise on how to correctly assess the paper in preparation for the actual Test. The areas covered include: exam technique, main topics, how to organise your file, how to approach the reading time and an opportunity to work through sample questions. Delegates receive copies of all slides used by the tutors, including detailed answers to the questions covered. They also receive revision notes on the main areas of the subject.
Head II – Litigation (Civil)
This revision session takes delegates through the five stages of the litigation process and is based on two case studies – one fast-track, the other multi-track. The session highlights particularly Test-relevant issues and looks at how they might come up and be dealt with in the Test setting. All issues are put into the context of the case studies and the session illustrates how areas delegates will have covered during their study ‘fit’ into the litigation process. During the session delegates review various documents which are central to litigation and go through salient drafting points to be aware of.
Head III - Professional Conduct and Accounts
This four-hour revision session covers both parts of the paper - Professional Conduct and Accounts. The tutor aims to fully prepare delegates for the Test and will advise on areas which are likely to arise in the Test.
Head IV – Principles of Common Law
This revision session covers exam technique and the main topics of the syllabus. It is practical, interactive and specifically aimed at preparing candidates to pass the oral exam. Delegates receive two handouts containing advice on exam technique, knowledge-based questions, scenarios and specimen extracts, and questions which they work through during the course. There are tutor-led plenary discussions of these questions and scenarios, and delegates are provided with a further handout containing points to note in tort law. There is plenty of opportunity for delegates to ask the tutor questions that will help them prepare for and pass the oral exam.
