Leaders in legal education
As the UK’s leading and longest established law school, The College of Law occupies a pivotal role at the heart of the legal profession. We’re focused exclusively on law – we don’t teach anything else.
Here’s why we’re the first choice of study for more prospective and qualified lawyers than anyone else.
Outstanding reputation
Without question, we set the standard for legal education in the UK and further afield. We‘re constantly pioneering new and better ways to train and develop the legal talent of today and tomorrow.
We have the largest law school alumni network in Europe - nearly all practising lawyers in England and Wales have studied with us at some point. College of Law qualifications are endorsed by leading firms and chambers and highly valued in the competitive legal market.
Outstanding teaching quality
We offer flexible full-time, part-time, distance learning and DVD-based multi-media study options, blending traditional and innovative learning methods. Our teaching centres have all received top ratings from the Solicitors Regulation Authority for our Legal Practice Course (LPC) and our tutors are all experienced legal practitioners.
We were the first independent institution to be granted degree-awarding powers, a ringing endorsement of our academic standards.
Outstanding preparation for practice
Feedback from our postgraduate students, and the firms and chambers they go on to work for, confirms our belief that we provide the best possible starting point for a career in law.
We’ve consistently been voted best LPC provider by Legal Week and we’re exclusive LPC provider to three of the ‘Magic Circle’ law firms. Our practice-focused courses give students outstanding practical experience, award-winning pro bono opportunities, access to the largest UK legal careers service and links with firms and other legal service providers.
Outstanding training in practice
Nearly all UK lawyers have trained with The College of Law at some point during their career and eight of the ten largest law firms in the UK regularly use the College for their training.
We’re the leading provider of ongoing professional development for qualified lawyers and of the Professional Skills Course (PSC for trainee solicitors. And this expertise is increasingly open to lawyers throughout the world.
