College facilities

Is there anywhere to park at the College?

Chester, York and Guildford are all ‘out of town’ sites and have free parking available for staff and students. For staff at Barratt House in Guildford there is limited parking at Barratt House so further parking is available on the main College site.

London Bloomsbury has very limited space available for disabled staff only or by pre agreement with the Deputy Director Admin.

London Moorgate, Birmingham and Manchester do not have any parking spaces available.

Does the College have a canteen or restaurant?

Each centre has catering facilities which staff and students can use. It provides a range of hot and cold meals, sandwiches, confectionary, drinks etc.

For staff at Barratt House there is also a sandwich van which calls at the site in addition to the Café on the main site.

Pay

What date do we get paid each month?

Salary payments are made on or before 25th of each month.  A full list of pay dates is held on the College's intranet site.

What do I do with my P45?

Please return your P45 to the Payroll department.

What happens if I do not have a P45?

If you do not have a P45 you will need to complete a P46, you can obtain this from the Payroll department.  If you've lost your P45, you won't be able to get a replacement. We will give you a form P46 to complete so that HMRC can give you a code number for your new employment.

What happens if I join the College after the payroll cut-off date?

If you join the College on or after the 15th of each month you will then be paid in the following months pay run as long as The People Team in Guildford have received your signed paperwork.

When will I get a pay rise?

Salary review for admin and support staff is effective from 1st February each year and for academic staff and senior admin staff it is effective from 1st August each year. Your salary will be reviewed but your salary will not necessarily be increased at this time. We would not normally increase the salary for people who are within their probationary periods or who have joined the College within three months of the annual salary review date.

How do I book holiday?

You should talk to your immediate manager as each Centre has their own method of recording absences including annual leave. The People Team do  not hold central records of annual leave taken.

Some Departments may place restrictions on when you can take annual leave due to business needs.

The College also recognises 8 Public and Bank Holidays, these are:

New Year’s Day; Good Friday; Easter Monday; the first and last Mondays in May; the last Monday in August; Christmas Day; Boxing Day.

Annual leave and Bank holidays are pro-rata for part time employees

College closedown days form part of your annual leave entitlement.  The dates of the closedown days will be notified to you at the beginning of each leave year, and you will be required to take these days out of your leave allowance.
