Sports and social

There are numerous societies and clubs at the Chester centre that students are able to become involved with, these include: the choir, The College band, European Lawyers group, the Irish society, Christian fellowship society, Welsh club, International society and The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) which offers talks, mentoring and social events.

Many of our students also entertain themselves socially at the local pub which has almost become a “union” bar!

And for the sportier students we have rock climbing trips, an annual Easter snow skiing holiday, rugby sevens tournaments, squash, cricket, rowing, hockey, Gaelic football, rugby, golf days, netball and football leagues. There is also a sports centre with a swimming pool and gym within easy walking distance of The College in Christleton.

Each year, students have the chance to join the Student Social Committee which creates and organizes a full programme of social events such as welcome parties, ten pin bowling, live music events, quiz nights, Christmas parties, booze cruises, theatre trips, pub crawls, celebration balls, three peaks challenges, end of terms drinks, sports days, wine tasting, barbecues and themed evenings.

We also encourage students to set up any additional clubs and societies that are of particular interest to them.

Chester city centre has an extensive range of bars, clubs, restaurants, cinemas and music venues, in addition to its renowned racecourse. For shopping there is the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet nearby and just a half hour away, the famous Trafford Centre. The 2008 European Capital of Culture, Liverpool can also be reached within a forty minute drive.

“The Chester centre would be recommended because not only does it provide a very strong foundation for the legal career ahead of me but there is also a very strong and friendly social vibe”
