Our pro bono programme
Award-winning pro bono that increases your employability
To really bring your learning to life we run the largest and most varied legal pro bono programme in the UK, offering you the opportunity to put your skills into practice with real clients.
In 2009/2010 all our students seeking pro bono experience were able to take part in at least one of our award winning programmes. Here are just a few examples:
- Legal advice centres
We run advice centres at our locations, answering legal enquiries from the general public. This casework programme gives you valuable first-hand experience of client relationships, legal research and drafting - particularly useful for LPC students.
- Streetlaw programme
Pioneered by The College of Law in partnership with the Citizenship Foundation and top law firm Eversheds, the Streetlaw programme raises legal awareness in communities and is designed with GDL students in mind.
- Tribunal representation
Aimed at BPTC students, this involves representing real clients before selected tribunals, from interview through to hearing.
- Pro bono placements
The experience of working with real clients on a pro bono placement is invaluable. We help LPC students obtain placements in not-for-profit organisations to provide members of the public with free legal advice and representation.
