Mentoring at The College
Experience of working in law or even having some understanding of what being a lawyer entails is extremely important for anyone embarking on a legal career.
Therefore, we run a mentoring scheme, pairing our students with members of the legal profession - from trainees to senior solicitors and partners. Barristers are also encouraged to become mentors and help guide our BPTC students and those GDL students thinking of pursuing a career at the Bar.
In most centres the scheme runs from the late autumn to May, and during this time we ask our mentors and mentees to make contact a minimum of four times. One of these contacts should be face-to-face, ideally in the mentor's workplace, but the other contacts could be via phone or email.
By participating, mentors can gain the satisfaction of helping individuals achieve their aspirations, from discussing strategies and helping with applications through to imparting valuable knowledge based on personal experience of the profession.
To find out more about the scheme you may want to listen to the short podcasts or watch our brief presentation (see links below) or contact us.
