Private Client Law and Practice – The Basics
course overview
What?
Developed in association with the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society, this two-day face-to-face course aims to enable qualified solicitors practising in other areas to cope with the immediate demands of private client practice.
Who?
The course is open to Law Society members and is aimed primarily at qualified solicitors with up to five years PQE who are considering moving into private client work having practised in other areas. It is also relevant to solicitors with more PQE who want to build their private client capability.

How?
The course is based around two days of face-to-face tuition at a College of Law centre. The topics covered are:
- Intestacy
- Wills
- Inheritance Tax
- Trusts in Wills
- Estate Planning Principles
- Procedure During Probate Administration
- Claims Being Made Against an Estate
- Consideration of Post-death Planning Opportunities

How much?
The 2012 fee is £325 (+VAT) = £390 per delegate.
The course fee includes all course materials as well as lunch and refreshments.
