LL.M in International Legal Practice
The LL.M in International Legal Practice was created to meet the demands and career aspirations of modern international lawyers. Designed in conjunction with the International Bar Association (IBA), our LL.M is an internationally recognised professional qualification aimed at building cross-border legal knowledge to enhance your legal career.
Study options:
Full-time LL.M in London (30 hours per week)
You can study The College of Law/IBA LL.M in International Legal Practice full-time; the course commences in September 2012 at our London Moorgate centre.
S-mode programme (supervised online learning) (10-15 hours per module unit)
Modules can be studied without any face-to-face tuition or the need to attend on of the College’s UK centres – making them ideal for international lawyers or graduates.
On successful completion of either the S-mode or the full-time LL.M in International Legal Practice, you will be awarded a fellowship to the IBA which provides two years free membership.
LL.M in Professional Legal Practice
Our LL.M in Professional Legal Practice is a flexible way for you to gain a career-enhancing Masters qualification.
Specialist qualifications
For example, if you are studying for the LL.M in Professional Legal Practice and choose to specialise in corporate/commercial law, your masters degree can be classified as "LL.M in Professional Legal Practice (Corporate/Commercial)".
Study options:
S-mode programme (supervised online learning) (10-15 hours per module unit)
You study the same S-mode modules as for the LL.M in International Legal Practice, but request that your award be designated as an LL.M in Professional Legal Practice, allowing you to add a specialism, if desired (provided you meet all other eligibility criteria). Modules can be studied without any face-to-face tuition or the need to attend on of the College’s UK centres – making them ideal for international lawyers or graduates.
A-mode (attendance) programme (10 hours per week per module)
Modules are studied through a combination of online study and face-to-face tuition and attendance at one of the College’s UK centres.
Combining S-mode and A-mode study
Please note: subject to meeting any necessary eligibility criteria (for example, securing any necessary visa if you are a non-EEA citizen and wish to study A-mode modules at one of our UK centres), it is possible to study a mix of A-mode and S-mode modules to gain the required number of credits, before starting your dissertation. Whether you are awarded the LL.M in International Legal Practice or the LL.M in Professional Legal Practice will depend on the precise combination of modules studied. For further details, please see Specialist awards and prohibited combinations.
