LL.M entry requirements

The College of Law fully complies with equal opportunities legislation and actively encourages diversity within the legal profession. Our admissions process acts fairly and aims to enable students to make the best use of their talents.

To be eligible for admission to our LL.M, you must hold one of the following:

  • a UK undergraduate degree or international equivalent
  • a GDL, LPC or BVC/BPTC

We recommend that non-law graduates have a basic grounding in common law.

Qualifications will be checked before the LL.M is awarded.

Please note that if you hold a College of Law LPC or BVC/BPTC, the 60 Masters level credits you have obtained at that stage cannot be counted towards the full-time LL.M. They can only be counted towards the award of the LL.M completed via either S-mode or A-mode.

Proficiency in English language

You must have a sufficient command of English to complete the course successfully. If your first language is not English you must have the British Council IELTS level 6.5 or above in all subjects, if you wish to study the LL.M via S-mode or A-mode.  If you wish to study the full-time LL.M in London you must have IELTS level 7.0 or above in all subjects. You can contact IELTS on 01223 553355 or visit www.ielts.org

If you do not have any of the above qualifications, but are still interested in the LL.M, please e-mail us at
