BPTC retrospective scholarships in association with the Kalisher Scholarship Trust

The Kalisher Scholarship Trust was set up in 1996 in memory of Michael Kalisher Q.C and is a charity dedicated to offering funding to students on the Bar Professional Training Course who aspire to be criminal barristers.

Two full scholarships will be available to The College of Law BPTC students who graduate in 2012 from our London Bloomsbury centre. A further two will be available for students who graduate from our Birmingham centre in 2013.

These scholarships apply to students who choose the Criminal Bar and fees will be reimbursed retrospectively, once the student has completed their BPTC.

The selection criteria will be based on:

  • Intellectual ability: demonstrated by academic performance, past work, activities and other experience
  • Motivation to succeed at the Criminal Bar: including steps taken to acquire the personal skills required of a barrister
  • Potential as an advocate: both in oral and written skills
  • Personal qualities: including self-reliance, independence, integrity, reliability and humanity
  • Financial need: candidates will be asked to supply to the interview panel, in confidence, information demonstrating financial need.

More information will soon be available from the Kalisher website www.thekalishertrust.org
