Bail advice scheme

The bail advice scheme provides advice to clients detained by the Immigration Service. You will take instructions from your client visiting them in the immigration removal centre and prepare the letter of advice. All your work is closely supervised by our Supervising Solicitor.

Our students say

“I would honestly advise all LPC students to get involved in a project like this as I believe it provides excellent grounding for the more practical aspects of legal work … and shows you what a supervisor/trainee relationship will be like.”

Intellectual property letter writing clinic

The College has recently started working with Own-it, an organisation supporting start-up businesses in the creative industries.

You will draft materials for Own-it’s website including letters of advice to individual queries. You will have the chance to use your drafting, analysis and team work skills. This is supervised by external solicitors and our own academic staff.

Streetlaw

Streetlaw is public legal education and can cover anything from children’s rights to police powers. At Moorgate we work with local community groups to provide interactive workshops on their chosen legal topic.

You will practise team work, client care, research and presentation skills.

Our partners say

“I was really impressed with your students, in particular, the level of communication throughout and the organisation.”

Your day in court

Working with our community group clients, we provide the chance to act out a criminal mock trial. We use real court rooms and prepare the participants to act out the parts, understanding the relevant law and court practice.

You will research and present preparatory workshops in teams of 3 or 4. This gives you a chance to practise project management and client care skills.

Our partners say

“Thank you so much for all your hard work in arranging the programme for the Young Leaders. It has been inspirational. “Your Day in Court” was fantastic!”

Dellow Centre drop-in advice clinic

The College has worked for many years with Providence Row, a charity assisting homeless people. It runs a weekly legal advice clinic from its Dellow Day Centre.

You will work with volunteer advisers, taking initial client details, observing interviews and carrying out follow-up tasks. In complex cases, this involves accessing specialist legal advice for the client.

Our students say

“This experience has enabled me to gain experience and confidence in a range of areas…I have also enjoyed working with a range of professionals and clients”.
