What can Careers help with?
Our careers team can help you with anything to do with planning for working life after your course. You can gain advice from our specialist staff and extensive information resources.
Areas we frequently help with include:
- Finding a training contract and choosing between firms
- Application forms, CVs and covering letters
- Interviews and assessment centres including psychometric tests
- Succeeding as a mature applicant
- Finding paralegal and other pre-training contract opportunities
- Alternatives to training contracts
How can I get help from Careers?
Via face to face appointments, email contact or by phone. We also run regular workshops on key topics such as preparing for interviews and making written applications. Our Careers team has extensive contact with industry and many Firms deliver presentations to our students throughout the year.
Other resources
- Online job vacancies database including some exclusively available to College of Law students.
- Interview feedback forms. We have a database of employer information where current students have provided an insight into their experiences of the recruitment and selection process of firms. This can be a great help when preparing for your own interviews and assessment centres.
- Handouts – hard copies and online. A full range of hand-outs are available to help you prepare for each stage of the recruitment and selection process.
- Free Training Contract and Pupillage Handbooks are available to all students.
