W300 Module description

This module is intended for students who already have a good knowledge of the English legal system and legal method, building on the knowledge and skills developed in W200 Understanding law. It examines two of the Foundations of Legal Knowledge in respect of the Law of Obligations: Contract and Tort.

In outline, the module covers the following:

  • in the Contract Law element of the module, you will consider the legal requirements for the formation of a contract, together with the contents of a contract. You will study the law relating to exclusion of liability, discharge from contract and the remedies available for breach of contract and misrepresentation. The module also introduces the law of restitution
  • the Law of Tort element will consider the basis of tortious liability and specific torts such as negligence, nuisance and trespass.
