Additional module information

You will be registered as a student of the Open University, with access to all the benefits that this entails.

The module consists of materials, designed and written by academics from The College of Law. The materials, which include manuals and resource books, draw on best practice in supported open learning and include everything you need to study at home (apart from internet access: for each module you are required to have access to the internet). Optional face-to-face tutorials may be be offered.

• Professional recognition
  This module, together with the other three 60-credit law modules and a further 120 credits from Open University modules or from transferred credit transfer, can contribute to a degree that is recognized as a Qualifying Law Degree. It is acceptable for completing the academic stage of training as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales, as long as you comply with the requirements of the Professional Bodies. • Assessment
  There are six tutor-marked assignments and an examination.
• Support from your tutor
  You will have a tutor who will give you guidance on your work, and who will offer academic support wherever possible. Your tutor will assess and give you feedback on your module assignments. Group tutorials may be offered in your region but the location of these depends on the distribution of the students taking the module. You are encouraged but not obliged to attend these tutorials. Ask your Regional Centre if you need to know more before you decide whether to register. Your Regional Centre will provide you with both general and certain specialist help with your studies.
• If you have special needs
  The module is available in comb binding and in an alternative format. Please ask your Regional Centre about the help that is available for students with special needs. If you are a new student, make sure that you have our booklet 'Meeting Your Needs'.

• You will need
  You will need internet access and a computer. If you have purchased a new Windows computer since 2002 it should meet your module computing requirements. Broadband access to the Internet is recommended.
