What understanding will you gain from W200?

The module is designed to raise your legal awareness and give you:

• an understanding of the doctrines and principles that underpin the law
• a thorough understanding of the sources of the law, how it is made and developed, the institutions within which it is administered and the people who practise it
• an introduction to the areas considered fundamental to any study of law, principally the Foundations of Legal Knowledge and the legal system and process
• a thorough understanding of EU law, one of the foundations of legal knowledge
• an understanding and appreciation of the social and other pressures that shape the development of the law
• the intellectual ability and practical skills to apply the principles and knowledge you have learnt to the further study of law
• the ability to interpret statutes and cases, research legal issues, handle legal facts and analyse legal problems
