Alumni Bursary Fund
The College of Law is to launch an Alumni Bursary Fund to enable it to further expand its charitable activities aimed at boosting diversity in the legal profession. .
Alumni Career Coaching
We are delighted to announce the launch of a new service to College of Law Alumni members, Career Coaching.
Initially the Coaching will be provided by , a professionally trained Personal Performance Coach and experienced Careers Consultant. Kay has a specialist knowledge of the legal field, does ongoing careers advisory work for the College and has a background in the City/financial services sector.
Why is the College offering the service to Alumni members?
In the last survey of the Alumni membership many members expressed an interest in one-to-one careers support and personal development services. We are offering Career Coaching in response to this interest.
How can Coaching benefit me?
Coaching is neither counselling nor advice giving. It is for people who want to get more out of life more quickly than if they tried to do it alone.
Coaching uses a structured approach based on the 'GROW' model. This involves goal setting, exploring what's going on now for the client, generating options for change and deciding how and when to take these options forward. Coaching sessions take place either face-to-face or by phone.
From our research and survey responses we have identified several areas where Alumni members might find value;
- preparation for career progression
- developing and improving employability
- changing career direction
- handling department closure and redundancy
- work/life balance and time management
