Rewards
The details below are a guideline only, designed to give a broad understanding of the employment terms at the College.
This document will not form part of your contract of employment if you become an employee of The College of Law. Full details of benefits offered to new employees will be provided on joining. These benefits are based on full-time hours of 35 hours per week; benefits for part-time employees are pro-rated.
Pension
The College provides a voluntary defined contribution pension scheme, which you will be eligible to join after six months.
Life Assurance
The College currently provides a non contributory Life Assurance scheme to all its permanent and fixed term employees.
Holidays
The College’s holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December. In each holiday year, your basic holiday entitlement is 30 days with 35 days for academic employees (including any days on which the centre is closed). In addition you are also entitled to all Public and Bank holidays. You will be paid your normal salary in respect of all holiday entitlement.
Occupational Sick Pay
The College has an occupational sick pay scheme, entitlement increases with length of service.
Private Medical Insurance
Our private medical insurance scheme is currently provided by CIGNA Healthcare. This is an optional benefit, which if taken up is treated as a taxable benefit by the Inland Revenue. Enhancement to cover for family members is also possible but is at the employee's expense.
Childcare Vouchers
In conjunction with Care-4, the College offers an electronic childcare voucher scheme that enables parents and guardians to provide their children with professional childcare and make savings on their payments. Employees are eligible to join after six months’ service.
Eye-care Vouchers
Accepted by over 95% of UK opticians, these vouchers cover free eye examinations and discounts on many spectacle frames and lenses.
Interest Free Rail Ticket Loan
The College can provide interest free loans specifically for season rail tickets, and repayments can be spread out over a period of up to 12 months (the loan is for rail travel only and does not cover tickets purchased daily).
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Provided to all our employees as soon as they start at the College, our EAP is always ready to help with practical solutions, information, and support. It is designed to work for everyone, whether you’re trying to find child care, manage your personal finances, cope with a family problem or personal issue, or just deal with the ups and downs of everyday life.
It provides employees with the support, information and resources you need. From caring, professional consultants you can telephone, to a web site where you can read over 500 tip sheets, order free booklets and CD recordings, access convenient online locators, complete self-assessments and request newsletters. It is easy to access and is completely confidential. It’s available at no cost to you and your immediate family members, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
