22 April 2010: College of Law’s New Bristol Centre Receives a Boost as Osborne Clarke Names it as Exclusive Training Provider
The College of Law has been appointed as exclusive provider of a range of professional training courses by Osborne Clarke, a full-service pan-European law firm.
From September all of the firm’s future trainees will study the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Legal Practice Course (LPC) and the Professional Skills Course (PSC) with the College.
The trainees can attend any of the College’s eight centres nationwide but the partnership with Osborne Clarke will be co-ordinated from the College’s new Bristol centre, which is opening in September.
Osborne Clarke has offices in London, the Thames Valley and Bristol as well as Germany and the USA. It has also extended its pan-European capabilities through the Osborne Clarke Alliance, a joint venture of seven like-minded commercial law firms with offices across 16 major European cities.
Simon Beswick, Osborne Clarke's managing partner said: “We want to give our trainees the best possible start to their legal careers and partnering with The College of Law will help us to achieve this. The College of Law opening in Bristol was a key deciding factor in our decision as the College now has centres near to all our offices.”
Around 25 Osborne Clarke future trainees will study at the College each year and will undertake the College’s unique corporate-focused LPC study route to reflect the central position of Osborne Clarke's transactional practice.

Nigel Savage, Chief Executive of The College of Law, said: “It is a great boost for our new centre in Bristol that we have been appointed by a firm that attracts high profile domestic and international work from clients across the UK, including clients in the Bristol and the South West markets.
“Osborne Clarke has built an impressive reputation for the quality and reach of its transactional, advisory and litigation practices both in the UK and across Europe and the College’s specialist corporate LPC study route will provide a solid foundation for their trainees when they start work with the firm.”
