The College of Law centre in London offers a variety of services providing FREE legal advice/assistance to members of the public.
1. Housing and employment legal advice
Do you have a non-urgent legal problem on which you would like written advice?
From September to May our students offer FREE preliminary legal advice. All advice is given in writing after an interview and under the strict supervision of qualified staff. Interviews are by prior appointment only, after an initial telephone assessment of your case.
Our students may be able to help tenants with housing problems such as rent arrears, disrepair and return of deposits, and homeless people with their applications for council housing. We may be able to help employees with problems such as grievance and disciplinary, redundancy and dismissal, as well as discrimination or harassment at work.

2. Employment telephone advice helpline - COLETA
If you have an employment enquiry which can be answered over the telephone, then our administrators will refer you to our evening service whereby you can be advised by a volunteer employment lawyer, assisted by our students, in a FREE telephone call. 3. Consumer and business legal advice
Do you have a non-urgent legal problem on which you would like written advice? If so, our students may be able to help. From September to May our students offer FREE preliminary legal advice on consumer issues and setting up your own business.
Our advice is given in writing under the strict supervision of qualified staff. Details are taken from you in a telphone interview and you will receive a written letter of advice.

4. Deaf Legal Service
Run in partnership with Andrea’s School of British Sign Language, our student advisors may be able to help you with the assistance of a BSL interpreter. 5. Tribunal Representation Service
If you are a leaseholder and are in dispute with your freeholder over service charges, major works or want to appoint a new managing agent and wish to apply to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal then our students may be able to represent you in your case. If you are appealing about your rent assessment then our students may be able to represent you at the Rent Assessment Committee.
